Hello ! That conversation is an informal way to get to know each other better. On the recruiter side, our goal is to make sure that everything is clear; that there is no pending questions that the Jury may have on your application, such as gaps on your CV or missing details on your transcripts; it is our job to compile everything for the Admission Jury, so that they have all they need in order to take the decision. We also are here for you to ask all the questions you may have about the program, the school and anything that you need answered.
It really is a "conversation", much more than an professional interview. Recruiters are not part of the Admission Jury, we are not involved in the decision whether you will be accepted or not, we are just a first check point, ensuring that our program matches your goals and expectation, and that your application is ready to go through the Admission Jury. We would ask you about your motivation of course, but also about maybe about your previous experiences, mindset, your personality... Sometimes we end up talking about sports or books with students! There is no way to fail this "interview", except if you show very bad behavior or no interest at all in the program; so do not stress about it! Keep in mind that it is just as much for us as for you.
