Moving to France and joining IÉSEG was a life-changing experience.
Back when I was in Lebanon, I studied International Business Management to gain an insight into the business world on a global scale. While I worked in different sectors, I was still searching for something that would push me even further and encourage me to seek some qualities and skills I needed to develop. After thorough research for schools and countries, I stumbled upon IÉSEG's Master of Science in Business Analysis and Consulting, a one-of-a-kind program that I could not find anywhere else. One of my closest friends happens to be an IÉSEG Alumni, and upon sharing his experience with me, I considered the school as my first choice.
Briefly, moving to France and joining IÉSEG was the best decision I have taken. Not only did I choose the program that would eventually help me develop the skills I needed, but I also met and exchanged with wonderful people from at least 17 different nationalities, including fellow students, professors and administrators.
A variety of courses and classes triggering different sets of skills
The good thing about this program is the mixture of practical and theoretical material. Courses like Statistics for Consulting, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Supply Chain Management, and Management Accounting help develop your analytical skills. Other courses like Consulting Tools seminar, Change Management, Project Management, and Business Process Modeling introduce you to theories, methods, and processes used in the consulting field. In all cases, you will be challenging yourself with different case studies, individual and group exercises, and practical simulations. This variety of concepts and models the program offers, both qualitative and quantitative, stimulates critical thinking and allows students to utilize the learning in order to tackle issues and dilemmas emerging in our global economy.
Interaction, teamwork, and collaboration
Looking back at my experience, the most that I can remember are the precious times I have spent with my fellow students, inside and outside the classroom. You learn a lot from people coming from different nationalities and backgrounds and interacting with them during class hours will show you that there will always be room for learning and development. The good thing about this is that you will also get to experience it in the workplace, whether in Consulting or not. Teamwork and collaboration are vital for project execution and completion, and clients in the real business world are in need of people with such skills.
Challenge yourself, ask questions, and make use of every second
Remember that this is a Master's program, so you have to expect a load of simultaneous assignments and projects. If you are considering this program, then you most likely are or aiming to become a Business Analyst or Consultant. Just like the real world, you will appreciate one project over the other. You might get frustrated with one, but you will end up learning a lot when you complete it, and you will feel a great sense of accomplishment. Most importantly, remember that you are not alone, and if you act like you are, you will get stuck. Don't be afraid to reach out to your classmates and professors for advice and help, you'd be surprised how far they will go for you.
